ARTISTIC JOURNEY

Artist Nguyen Thi Hoa underwent ten years of continuous training at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, spanning both the intermediate program and the undergraduate course from 1977 to 1982. The solid foundation in figurative drawing instilled by the "Yet Kieu" school has remained a constant anchor throughout her painting practice.

Nguyen Thi Hoa works primarily with lacquer, drawing creative inspiration from the familiar aspects of everyday life. Her artistic world centers on portraits, landscapes, and common subjects such as women, children, flora, and still lifes. In her work, human figures are rarely depicted with anatomical precision; instead, they are stylized into distilled forms that evoke a private, contemplative inner state.

While adhering to the traditional lacquer palette, she employs gold, silver, and the white tones of eggshell with restraint, prioritizing the harmony between form, color, and material texture. Her paintings feature robust compositions and meticulously treated colors, yet they retain a soft, evocative quality.
