ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Nguyễn Thị Hòa's "Self-portrait 3" is an exquisite lacquer painting that encapsulates inner beauty and serenity. The subject, portrayed with flowing dark hair and a gentle gaze, reclines gracefully in a blue chair. The composition achieves a delicate balance between the figure and a vibrant still life of red lilies, merging introspection with the external world. Hòa masterfully employs traditional lacquer techniques, notably the intricate use of eggshell inlay and gold and silver leaf, imbuing the surface with profound depth and luminous brilliance. The cool palette of blues and grays, accented by warm reds and golds, evokes a contemplative atmosphere, inviting viewers to ponder timeless elegance and self-possession.
