ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Nguyễn Thị Hòa's "Autumn Portrait" is a lacquer masterpiece that eloquently captures a refined beauty and profound inner world. The graceful inclination of the young woman, draped in a traditional áo dài, her gaze softly directed towards the pristine white chrysanthemums, establishes a delicate balance and serene emotional flow. The lacquer medium is masterfully employed, particularly evident in the áo dài's uniquely textured, almost crackled surface, imparting an aristocratic depth and elegance. A harmonious interplay of subdued, warm background tones with the pure white of the flowers and the deep purple of the vase creates a gentle symphony of colors. This work transcends mere portraiture, offering a poignant reflection on the delicate, contemplative beauty of autumn and the Vietnamese female spirit.
