ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In *The Last Freedom*, Buu Chi places an open eye amidst overlapping hands, both shielding and enclosing it. This concise image creates a paradox between the desire to see and know and the limitations that constantly surround humanity. With its earthy brown, black, and white tones and a structure almost like a bas-relief, the work evokes the idea of freedom as the ultimate state of consciousness: even though the body may be restrained, the gaze and spirit still find a way to escape.
