ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Điềm Phùng Thị’s seven modules form a sculptural system of simplified shapes conceived as seven fundamental “characters” within a visual language. Each module possesses a distinct form, yet it becomes fully expressive only through rotation, repetition, symmetry, connection, and interaction with the others. From this limited sculptural alphabet, the artist generated an extraordinary variety of configurations evoking the human figure, vegetation, architecture, growth, and the rhythms of life. Solid mass continually enters into dialogue with void, stability with movement, and geometric order with organic sensibility. The seven modules are therefore not merely formal devices, but the foundation of Điềm Phùng Thị’s artistic thinking: beginning with simple and universal forms to open an almost limitless field of expression. Through this system, her sculpture remains coherent as a language while retaining the freedom of an ever-changing play between form and space.
