ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Mina Ho Ferrante’s "The Keeper of the Flame" is a profoundly poetic and mystical work, inviting viewers into a surreal realm. At its core is the ethereal figure of a girl, cradling a luminous flame—a potent symbol of life, hope, and inner illumination. The balanced composition draws the eye from her serene countenance to her flowing gown adorned with a kaleidoscope of butterflies, suggesting free spirits emanating from her presence. The cool palette of the misty forest and tranquil water starkly contrasts with the vibrant warmth of the fire, creating a compelling visual tension. This artwork transcends a mere portrait, offering a profound meditation on the feminine role in safeguarding and radiating eternal spiritual values.

Mina Ho Ferrante is a Vietnamese visual artist and art educator based in Burbank, California. She began establishing her painting career in Vietnam in the late 1980s, and her watercolor-on-silk work was featured in her first solo exhibition in 1988. Mina Ho Ferrante’s art brings together personal memory, family history, and an enduring belief in the power of hope.
