ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Mina Ho Ferrante's Roses Blooming on Red Stone masterfully orchestrates a contemplative composition where fragmented human forms, seemingly separated, are profoundly linked by a pristine white rose that defiantly blossoms from the arid red earth. The poignant interplay between the figures' vulnerability and the rose's resilience, set against the fiery hues of the stone and the serene expanse of blue sky, evokes a powerful emotional resonance. This oil on canvas offers a profound meditation on rebirth and the emergence of beauty from adversity, underscoring humanity’s intrinsic connection to nature’s enduring cycle of life and renewal.

Mina Ho Ferrante

(1968 – )

Mina Ho Ferrante is a Vietnamese visual artist and art educator based in Burbank, California. She began establishing her painting career in Vietnam in the late 1980s, and her watercolor-on-silk work was featured in her first solo exhibition in 1988. After moving to the United States in 1991, Mina worked in feature animation, including at Disney Feature Animation, before stepping away from her career to care for her three children. Upon returning to the visual arts, she expanded her artistic, teaching, and exhibition practice in the United States and internationally. Mina’s work explores family, everyday life, memories of Vietnam, the immigrant experience, and the formation of identity in the United States. From 2014 to 2025, she created a series of paintings illustrating her family’s multigenerational memoir, depicting historical upheaval, journeys of escape, reunion, and healing. Mina Ho Ferrante’s art brings together personal memory, family history, and an enduring belief in the power of hope.
