ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Mina Ho Ferrante's "Ký họa tuổi thơ" (Childhood Sketch) is an exquisite oil on canvas, masterfully weaving together realism and the whimsical realm of childhood. The composition presents an intimate family tableau, with figures warmly nestled on a richly patterned sofa, each absorbed yet intrinsically linked. The artist's meticulous brushwork captures the radiant joy of the father and the innocent curiosity of the children, evoking a profound sense of domestic warmth and togetherness. The background, adorned with childlike drawings, serves as a delicate portal to pure, unadulterated imagination. Through a harmonious and vibrant palette, Ferrante not only celebrates the beauty of familial bonds but also immortalizes these ordinary yet sacred moments, shimmering like cherished fragments of memory.

Mina Ho Ferrante

(1968 – )

Mina Ho Ferrante is a Vietnamese visual artist and art educator based in Burbank, California. She began establishing her painting career in Vietnam in the late 1980s, and her watercolor-on-silk work was featured in her first solo exhibition in 1988. Upon returning to the visual arts, she expanded her artistic, teaching, and exhibition practice in the United States and internationally. Mina’s work explores family, everyday life, memories of Vietnam, the immigrant experience, and the formation of identity in the United States. Mina Ho Ferrante’s art brings together personal memory, family history, and an enduring belief in the power of hope.
