ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In her work, Dang Thu An places the female figure within a space densely packed with floral motifs, swirling clouds, and Eastern mythical creatures. The body is simplified with soft lines, the head tilted, and the eyes closed, suggesting a dreamy, introspective state. Against a backdrop of crimson red and warm gold, the decorative motifs not only surround but also seem to permeate the form, making the character appear at the boundary between humanity, flowers, and mythology. The contrast between the serene expression of the face and the powerful rhythm of the phoenix, dragon, and floral patterns creates a feeling that is both gentle and intense. Through this, the work opens a discourse on femininity as a state of embodiment, where the beauty of the body merges with cultural memory and generative energy.
