Artist Đặng Xuân Hòa (born in 1959, Nam Định) is a leading figure in contemporary Vietnamese art and a prominent representative of the “Gang of Five”—a pioneering group of artists instrumental in shaping a crucial transformation in Vietnamese painting during the early 1990s Đổi Mới period. Graduating from the Hanoi Industrial Fine Arts University in 1983, his foundational training imbued him with a modern artistic sensibility deeply rooted in national cultural ethos.
